'Nigeria is talented' begins soon

Reality TV viewing is about to experience more verve as SoulBase Network is about to launch a multi talent reality TV series which will showcase talents from different spheres. The show debuts in December and it is tagged ‘Nigeria is talented.’

The reality series, which is tailored to be “a break away from the norm”, will gather talents that will display their dexterity in areas such as singing, dancing, acting, comedy, novelty act and handling of musical instruments.
Mrs. Chika Adetomi, Project Coordinator, “Nigeria is Talented” while shedding more light on the objective of the programme said, “the show will provide a platform for singers, choreograph dancers , novelty acts, acting, comedy and other talents (performances). They will compete under one roof, and that will provide excitement and aura that are never experienced in reality television shows.”

Mrs. Adetomi noted that Nigeria is enriched with talents in various fields, but the scope of talent hunt have been largely limited only in the areas of singing, dancing, acting and seldomly comedy. The unique quality of this show is the opportunity the show is offered to other unpopular talents to show their skill alongside familiar talents to one audience.

“This is a country with diverse and fascinating culture, artistry and providence, yet most of her individuals cannot tell how talented they are or if at all they are talented, because of limited exposure. “Nigeria is Talented” will provide a platform for talents,” she added.

Hinting about the selection process, the project coordinator noted that selection of talents would be based on criteria such as display of rare creative qualities that would be assessed by judges, audiences and viewers. She pointed out: “The winner must possess charisma, must be able to connect with the audience/viewer, should blow us away with his/her performance and attract total attention of the viewers while on set. The act alone is not enough but the delivery, style, and the general acceptability from the audience or viewers.’’

According to the organizers, the first multi-talent realty TV series is to be aired by a major television station with network across Nigeria and in partnership with other state-owned television stations across the country.

Tunde and Wunmi Obe out with new single

One of Nigeria’s foremost showbiz couples, Tunde and Wunmi Obe are currently in the studios working on a new album which will be released before the year runs out. The couple also went on to dispelled rumors making the rounds that they have quit the music scene.

“We have not left music, Music is our first love, we have been recording new songs, and in fact we are ready to roll” Wunmi Obe who clocked 40 last week told Journalists in Lagos this week. Her partner Tunde Obe continues “We are too legit to quit, we won’t do that to our fans, we owe it to them, and we can’t leave them hanging”.

And to truly affirm the fact that they are still very much in the scheme of things, the couple whose singles Adupe and Mogbomaya remain regulars on air released a new single entitled Zombie recently.

Coined from Bantu language (a family of Niger- Congo languages predominantly spoken in Central and Southern Africa), the word Zombie has over the years come to mean a walking dead, But not to worry, T.W.O is not sliding in that direction. Instead Tunde Obe explains “Zombie in our own context does not have anything to do with military men or a dead man walking, our song tells a story of two love birds, who are stuck on one other, and cannot do without each other” Tunde Obe explains.

The single which was produced by Sean Keyz is the first from the duo after their hit song entitled Mogbomaya.
